Amount and term limits

A licensee may not disburse more than $500 to the customer in a deferred-presentment transaction. A customer’s aggregate outstanding obligations to the same or any other licensee may not exceed $600.

The maximum total period of deferral, including the one permitted renewal, may not exceed 60 calendar days. An individual renewal period may not be less than 15 days.

Interest, fees and repayment

North Dakota caps the transaction fee at 20% of the amount disbursed rather than expressing the rule as one annual interest ceiling.

The deferred-presentment fee may not exceed 20% of the amount paid to the customer; a database registration fee limited to the licensee’s cost may also apply.

The transaction is ordinarily collected at maturity. One renewal is allowed, and the statute also permits a workout agreement in specified circumstances.

Rollovers, refinancing and early payment

Rollover allowed?
Yes
A licensee may not renew a deferred-presentment transaction more than once. The renewal fee may not exceed 20% of the amount renewed, the renewal period must be at least 15 days, and total initial-plus-renewal deferral may not exceed 60 days.
Prepayment penalty allowed?
Not reduced to a yes/no rule
No separate universal prepayment-penalty flag is encoded for deferred-presentment transactions from the cited chapter.

Why there is no single statutory calculator: North Dakota combines a cash-disbursement cap, aggregate-obligation cap, one-renewal structure, transaction fee and database fee. No new dedicated calculator is needed.
